Ahead of the 2025 MotoGP Tests Honda has been in Thailand taking part in a private test with Romano Albesiano in his new role as Technical Director.
It is surely no coincidence that the day after his old team unveiled their 2025 livery Aleix Espargaro shared a photo of his 2025 Honda RC213V at the Chang International Circuit.
Espargaro is now a Honda test and wildcard rider and has had a busy time with the Japanese manufacturer. After completing tests in Barcelona and Jerez the Spaniard is now out in Thailand ahead of the first Official MotoGP Test.
Our colleagues at Crash.net have learnt that HRC's new technical director Romano Albesiano is also present in Thailand with Espargaro. This is the Italian's first 'official' outing with HRC as his previous contract with Aprilia left him unable to attend the previous two tests.
Few details are known about the private test but it is fair to assume that HRC is using the track time to evaluate items ahead of the two Sepang Tests. The first official test of the new year will occur on the 31st of January (Shakedown Test), which will then be followed by the usual Sepang Test which will begin on the 5th of February.
The decision to test in Thailand seems odd at first glance, but the 2025 MotoGP season will begin in Thailand. The Chang International Circuit will also host the final preseason test ahead of Round One at the same venue.
Fellow Honda test rider, Takaaki Nakagami, is also believed to be testing for Honda in Thailand with Espargaro.
