Alex Marquez has confirmed that he will remain with Gresini Ducati in MotoGP on a two-year contract.
Marquez, who finished seventh in last weekend's MotoGP Dutch TT, joined the Gresini team at the beginning of 2023 having left LCR Honda, meaning his new Gresini contract will carry him through years three and four in the satellite Ducati team.
"Staying with Gresini was my main goal," Marquez said of his continuation with the Italian team. "Since I joined this team, my target has been to consistently get close to the best, and it's something I haven't achieved yet.
"The start of the season wasn't what we hoped for, but the team is strong and I know where we can go. So, I just want to thank Nadia [Padovani] for the trust."
Nadia Padovani, Gresini Racing team principal, added: "Alex is our pupil. Since he joined two years ago, the synergy between him and the team has been incredible and has strengthened with each race. We know his potential; he has already shown it and just needs consistency.
"Renewing with him was an obvious move for us because we are aware of his value both on and off the track. The results will come this year too, I am absolutely certain of it."
With Pramac Racing departing Ducati and joining Yamaha from next year, the allocation of factory-spec GP25 bikes for Ducati's satellite teams is now uncertain. Either Gresini or the VR46 team could take both GP25s, or Ducati could allocate each team one GP25 each. Gresini does not mention the specification of Desmosedici that Marquez will run next year.
Additionally, with Marquez' current teammate, Marc Marquez, confirmed to be departing Gresini next year after only one season to join the factory Ducati team, the identity of the #73's 2025 teammate is still to be confirmed.
