Gold & Goose

Before Christmas, Alex Rins underwent a successful ankle surgery on his 29th birthday.

On Sunday the eighth of December, Alex Rins underwent surgery on his right ankle. This operation coincidentally occurred on the same date as Rins' 29th birthday.

Rins took to social media to announce his surgery and called it a 'birthday present'.

"Thanks for your best wishes," Rins said on social media. "I got myself a birthday present in form of a small surgery to start the 2025 in perfect shape"

The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider has had multiple operations across the last two seasons. But his latest surgery was to remove a piece of metal from his right ankle.

The piece of metal most likely came from when he shattered his ankle at Mugello in 2023. The Spaniard, who was racing for LCR Honda at the time, lost control of his RC213V and destroyed his ankle. Of all the riders in the MotoGP paddock, no rider has missed more races than Rins.

In 2024 Rins made his debut with Yamaha after a difficult 2023 season with Honda. The #42 ended the year 18th in the Championship with 31 points to his name, his worst season in the premier class.

Rins' best result came at the Malaysian Grand Prix when he ended the race in eighth. However, he did not score a single point during the Sprint Races.
