Aprilia Racing have released their first official statement regarding Jorge Martin’s contract for 2026.
Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Aprilia Racing have released a statement regarding the recent rumours surrounding Jorge Martin’s contract.
In recent weeks, it had been revealed that Martin was actively searching for a way out of his contract with Aprilia at the end of the 2025 season.
However, the Italian manufacturer has now stated that their two-year contract, which expires at the end of the 2026 season, is ‘valid and in effect.
The official statement from Aprilia Racing stated:
“The contract between Aprilia Racing and Jorge Martín is valid and in effect, and as such, it must be respected by both parties until its expiration (end of 2026).
“Aprilia Racing has honoured it in full, within the agreed-upon timelines and terms, and will continue to do so in the future.
“Aprilia Racing denies that any negotiations have taken place between the parties to modify the duration of the contract, which remains as originally agreed upon.
“The team has no comment on matters that do not directly concern it but expects other teams to refrain from making any kind of offer to riders who are under contract. Such behaviour would, in any case, not be legitimate.
“The entire Team will continue to support Jorge throughout his recovery process, as it always has, and looks forward to seeing him back on track with the RS-GP.”
The reigning MotoGP World Champion joined Aprilia at the start of the 2025 season, but has been plagued by injuries.
Before the season had begun, Martin fractured both of his ankles and missed the first three rounds of the year.
The Spaniard returned for the Qatar Grand Prix and made his official debut as an Aprilia Racing rider. However, his time at the Lusail International Circuit did not go as planned.
After finishing 16th in the MotoGP Sprint Race, Martin failed to finish the Grand Prix as he crashed out of the race. But the worst part of the crash was when Martin was hit by Fabio di Giannantonio and suffered multiple fractured ribs.
Martin remains on the sidelines and missed the Spanish and French Grand Prix, and will remain on the sidelines for this weekend's British Grand Prix.
