Dorna and the FIM have announced provisional dates for the 2024 MotoGP World Championship with a record 22 grands prix scheduled for the season.

After 21 events were confirmed ahead of the 2023 MotoGP season - later reduced to 20 rounds following the postponement of the inaugural Kazakhstan MotoGP - the 2024 schedule will swell to feature two more events.

Included among these is the Kazakhstan MotoGP, due to take place at the Sokol International Raceway on 14-16 June, and a return to the Motorland Aragon circuit for the Aragon MotoGP on the 30 August - 1 September. They will mark Rounds 9 and 14 of the season respectively.

Elsewhere, the calendar remains relatively familiar to that of this season’s programme, though the Qatar MotoGP has returned to its traditional curtain raising slot on 8-10 March after being shuffled to later in the 2023 MotoGP season to allow time for a venue upgrade. 

As such, this season’s opening round in Portugal will host Round 2 of the season in Portimao before traversing the same order as this year’s schedule until Kazakhstan.

Thereafter, the only other minor change will see the Indonesia MotoGP will come before the Japanese MotoGP as hosts for Rounds 17 and 18.
