Francesco Bagnaia dominated in Austria to take victory in the Sprint Race and the main Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring.
After winning the Sprint Race on Saturday the Grand Prix on Sunday seemed like Francesco Bagnaia's to lose.
The reigning World Champion had regained the Championship lead after the Sprint Race, and a win at the Red Bull Ring would extend his advantage.
Bagnaia started the Austrian Grand Prix from second on the grid with his rivals Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez alongside him. After Marquez had a terrible start, Martin was Bagnaia's only real rival.
The Italian put in an incredibly consistent pace throughout the 28-lap race and controlled it from start to finish.
After the race, Bagnaia described his pace and speed as 'incredible' and 'unbelievable'.
"The pace was incredible," Bagnaia told Simon Crafar after the race. "I think me and Jorge (Martin) did something unbelievable in terms of speed and consistency.
"I was trying to do just a bit better than him every lap to open the gap because I knew in the last laps he could have had anything left in his rear tyre."
Bagnaia went on to thank his Ducati team and the VR46 Academy for their help this season.
"But I am very happy, it is three times in a row that I have won here, it is fantastic. I want to say thanks to all my team and the Academy for their training and the hard work we do every day. It is a special day for us."
