Movistar Yamaha's Maverick Vinales topped the Barcelona MotoGP test timesheets by almost a third of a second from Johann Zarco with Ducati's Jorge Lorenzo in third.
After yesterday's action was basically cancelled due to rain the morning, the series front runners got down to business at the Spanish track and Vinales came out on top with a 1'38.974 set late on in the afternoon which knocked Zarco's 1'39.097 into second place.
Zarco himself had deposed Lorenzo from the number one spot after the former champion set a 1'39.257. Britain's Cal Crutchlow, still recovering from the monster highside at Le Mans, led the morning session with a 1'39.521 but didn't improve in the afternoon.
Andrea Dovizioso, on the second works GP18, ended in sixth, one ahead of Marc Marquez who led through the speed trap at nearly 204 mph. Marquez ended the day 0.740 off the pace with Andrea Iannone and Taka Nakagami completing the top ten.
