Bastianini targets MotoGP top-ten finishes and rookie crown in 2021

MotoGP new-boy Enea Bastianini has targeted top-ten finishes in his first season and also wants the rookie of the year trophy.

He will go into his first season equipped with a factory-supported Desmosedici in Esponorama colours but has the problems of fellow rookie Luca Marini as a team-mate and Jorge Martin on another Ducati.

" I want to arrive in the top ten of course in all the races, but there are so many riders that are fast right now," said Bastianini, speaking at the track.

"From the middle of the championship I want to be always in the top ten and also be the best rookie. This is my objective for this year but if I can't do this, I will improve more for next year."

Bastianini finished the second Qatar test 15th overall on the average lap chart (click here) only 0.808s down and was also top rookie by a tenth over Martin.

"The first impression was that the MotoGP bike was good from the start. It was good with the brakes, I felt really comfortable with this.

"And after these days, the only real problem was to release the brake. The tyres are so different from the ones we use in Moto2. You can push a lot more and in the middle of the corner you can be faster.

"So adapting with the bike was good from the start, and after three days I was riding softer and more relaxed and now I have more confidence with the bike."
