Scotland’s John McPhee used a combination of trusted forks and new shock setup to set the sixth-fastest overall time at the Jerez Moto3 tests and ended just over two-tenths shy of quickest man Jack Miller.
The Oban rider, on the new NSF250RW, also edged ahead of Danny Kent with a lap that he set on his own with no slipstream, so believes he is in a good place ahead of the Qatar season opener next weekend.
"The combination provided a really good balance which gave me the confidence to push on. I had a target when I done my fastest lap, but not a slipstream, so I was pleased with that,” said McPhee.
"But the main thing for me was that I managed to do a 47.3 lap completely on my own - no target, no slipstream. So yeah, we made a big step forward today which, as I say, is pleasing for me and the team who've done a really good job in the build up to the season."
