Newly-crowned Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent has been voted the bikesportnews.com over Rider of the Year after becoming Britain’s first Grand Prix champ since Barry Sheene back before all this was fields.
But it wasn’t an easy win for the youngster as he had to contend with World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea, Valentino Rossi and 2015 BSB champ Josh Brookes in the reader poll.
Kent grabbed it with 19.22 per cent of the vote, beating Rea to top spot. The Isle of Man rider took 16.97 per cent of the ballot with Rossi third on 14.44 per cent. Road sensation Peter Hickman broke into fourth place late on with 11.28 per cent while Brookes, who moves into WSBK next year, took fifth on 7.31 per cent.
