David Alonso could miss the first Moto2 test of the year after dislocating his shoulder

The 2024 Moto3 World Champion has dislocated his shoulder ahead of his rookie Moto2 campaign.

While preparing for his rookie Moto2 season David Alonso has suffered a serious injury. The 2024 Moto3 World Champion has dislocated his right shoulder in a training accident in Spain.

“In Cartagena I had a little crash and dislocated my shoulder. Time to recover as quickly and safely as possible, day by day," Alonso said on social media.

The first Moto2 Test will take place on the 12th and 13th of February at Portimao, this gives Alonso two weeks to recover.

The Colombian dominated the 2024 Moto3 World Championship and earned a promotion to Moto2. Alonso will continue with the CFMoto Aspar Racing Team in Moto2 after two seasons with the same team in Moto3.

The 18-year-old will be one of six Moto2 rookies for the 2025 campaign. Three of Alonso's 2024 Moto3 rivals will also make the step up from the lightweight class to the intermediate class in 2025.
