James says: 'Motorcycles provide a vital lifeline in Africa. They take healthcare to kids who would otherwise die of things that are easy to cure and prevent. I'm proud to be able to help raise valuable funds for Riders'.
The auction is always a fantastic climax to Day of Champions - Riders biggest annual fundraisers - and a great way to start the GP weekend. The atmosphere is certain to be electric as James will join the other MotoGP riders on stage at the annual auction, when the paddock comes together to raise money for Riders work in Africa.
Day of Champions is one of the highlights of the British motorsport calendar for MotoGP fans, and infield tickets are on sale now.
Infield tickets are only £15 for adults and are free for children under 16. Ticket holders will get access to all the entertainment on the infield and on the stage, including the auction.
This year, Riders are giving fans the chance to buy tickets 24 hours a day through their re-launched website www.riders.org. Those that don’t want to buy online can call the Day of Champions ticket-line on 08702 242 960 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
There will be entertainment throughout the day. On track there will be live stunt shows on the start/finish straight. On the infield there will be displays from the ‘Xtreme’ trial riders, as well as all the action on stage and much more.
On stage, teams from the world of motorcycling will take part in ‘A Question of Bikes’, and Jules Ryder will present the MotoGP stars of the future as riders from 125cc and 250cc take part in their own auction during the day. The main stage will also see the ever popular Crash perform sets throughout the day.
