Former MotoGP star Alex De Angelis will replace Ben Spies in the Ignite Ducati team at Laguna Seca's MotoGP round, meaning the injured American won't return until at least Indianapolis.
The Italian will test the bike at the end of this week at Misano in preparation for the race alongside Andrea Iannone, and the factory pairing of Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso.
De Angelis is able to ride because Moto2 do not run at the California circuit and current stand-in Michele Pirro is at a Ducati test in Italy that weekend, so is unavailable.
