Jake Dixon begins his fourth season in Moto2 by returning to the team he started his world championship journey with, Inde Aspar.
Dixon’s team also opens the year with fresh focus as it heads to the desert and the Lusail International Circuit, partnering with GasGas for 2022 and competing on Kalex chassis - the bike that has won the last nine rider and constructor titles in the intermediate category.
After two years away from the squad, Dixon finished the three days of official testing at the Autodromo do Algarve with a good feeling and consistent results, firmly among Moto2’s front runners and fourth overall. The British rider, who debuted in the World Championship with the Valencian outfit, returns to the Inde GasGas Aspar Team with the desire to demonstrate the knowledge and experience gained in recent seasons and stake his claim amongst the championship challengers.
Having shone at last year’s Qatar Grand Prix, placing seventh, and buoyed by his Portimao performance, Dixon is aiming higher, with a top five finish the goal this time round as lights go out on Sunday for the first of 2022's 21 races.
“I really like the Qatar circuit,” Dixon confirmed ahead of the flight to Doha. “I’ve usually been good at it. I'm looking forward to competing there after the Portimao test, where we finished with a very good feeling. Being able to fight for the top five would be a very positive goal.”
