Ducati announced as MotoE manufacturer from 2023

Claudio Domenicali has announced Ducati’s plans for the MotoE Championship as it takes control as single manufacturer from 2023.

Dorna announced the departure of Energica Motor Company as the single manufacturer for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, with 2022 confirmed as the marque’s final season. Ducati will take up the mantle the following year with a contract currently in place until 2026.

“We announce today that we have reached an agreement with Dorna in order to be the single supplier for the MotoE Championship from 2023 to 2026,” Domenicali explained.

“This is a very important step for us, because actually we are continuing to do what we did in the past, but with the technology that for sure will come, even on two wheels, in the future. Even for production motorcycle.

“We as Ducati are everything about performance so our core value, our style, sophistication and performance and so we decided to enter the electrical mobility really from the top. There is no better way than competition, really, to test everything, to learn, to make experience, and we want our engineers to become as good as they are in developing internal combustion engine - and I think everyone can say that our engine in MotoGP is one of the fastest, if not the fastest. We want to get the same experience on technology on electrical propulsion.

"We will work to make available to all participants of the MotoE World Cup electric bikes that are high-performance and characterized by lightness. It is precisely on weight, a fundamental element of sports bikes, that the greatest challenge will be played out. Lightness has always been in Ducati’s DNA and thanks to the technology and chemistry of the batteries that are evolving rapidly we are convinced that we can obtain an excellent result. We test our innovations and our futuristic technological solutions on circuits all over the world and then make exciting and desirable products available to Ducatisti. I am convinced that once again we will build on the experiences we have had in the world of racing competition to transfer them and apply them also on production bikes," he concluded.

“We create, together with the FIM, the Enel World Cup MotoE Championship three years ago, and since this time we’re working a lot in development of this category,” Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta added.

“We want to start this speech, saying thank you very much to Energica who has started with this championship three years ago, still we will continue with Energica next year, and also to Enel, and to Michelin - this has been the three key suppliers to continue with us.

“In the way to develop everything and to improve things, we have been discussing during the last couple of years regarding how the improvement will be in the future. We talk with different manufacturers and then finally, we talk with Ducati. The project they present to us was achieving all our goals, and we are very proud to announce today that we signed the agreement with Ducati starting from 2023, and we think will be a new era for the MotoE.”
