Texas Tornado Colin Edwards could return to Yamaha power in 2014 under a scheme where the factory will make four M1 engines available for teams to lease.
The Forward NGM CRT rider, who will switch to an FTR frame with a Kawasaki engine next season, has a long and fruitful relationship with the Iwata factory so could be in line for one of the motors.
"It is no secret now that I've tried the new bike last week - the FTR-Kawasaki - and even though I only got to ride it in the wet, I was a second and a half faster in Valencia than it was during the race weekend. This bike you ride so much more natural to me, and I can not wait to know her better next year," said Edwards in his Bridgestone blog.
"Mark Taylor at FTR is really focused and I know that will make my comments in improvements rather than tell me that the bike is what it is and I'm really excited about it. I do not know what will happen from the point of view of the engines in 2014, but it seems that Yamaha will lease some engines, and we know we can develop a good frame with these guys so we'll be ready for whatever happens."
