Enea Bastianini is ready to return to MotoGP action again this season at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend at Mugello.
The Italian rider is set to return to MotoGP action at his home Grand Prix at Mugello. Enea Bastianini is yet to finish a race this season after he was taken out in the Sprint Race in Portimao.
Bastianini did try to return to MotoGP action earlier in the season at Jerez for the Spanish Grand Prix. However, the 25-year-old was in too much pain so could not compete in the races throughout the weekend.
Speaking ahead of this weekend and his return to a MotoGP bike Bastianini said:
"I like Mugello very much! In the past, I didn't get great results, so the goal is to be able to do it this year. Definitely, after all this time away from racing, it won't be easy.
"I rode a few weeks ago with the Panigale V4 S, and it felt good, but with the Desmosedici GP, it will be another thing. In any case, I'm motivated. It's our home race, so I hope I can do well."
In the past the Italian rider has not had a good track record at the Italian Grand Prix. Bastianini's best result at Mugello came in 2015 in the Moto3 class when he finished fifth overall. Whereas, in MotoGP Bastainini has had a poor time at Mugello. In 2021 he did not start the race after a crash on the warm up line when pulling on to the grid and then he crashed out of the race in 2022 as well.
