Fabio Quartararo has 'realistic goals' after securing pole position at Le Mans

After claiming pole at the Spanish Grand Prix, Fabio Quartararo has secured back-to-back pole positions.

At the French Grand Prix, it was home hero Fabio Quartararo who claimed pole position for the Monster Energy Yamaha squad.

This was Quartararo's second pole position of the 2025 MotoGP season and his third MotoGP pole position at the French Grand Prix.

It looked at first like Marc Marquez had wrapped up pole position after his first flying lap, but in the end, Quartararo was able to pip the eight-time World Champion.

"When I saw Marc [Marquez] did a 1:29.4, I thought today I would get second place," Quartararo told TNT Sports after Qualifying.

"I did a 1:29.7 in the first run, and I knew I could improve in my second run. I really, really felt on the limit but it was an amazing lap, and I am super happy."

Quartararo was on pole in Jerez two weeks ago and was able to convert that into a podium finish. However, he is expecting a more difficult battle this weekend and realistically believes he could finish anywhere inside the top five.

"Starting from P1 the goal is to finish on the podium," Quartararo explained.

"I know that Marc has more pace than us, it is clear to see. But at the moment, we have to look at ourselves and a realistic for us if we are honest is P2, P3, P4, or P5."
