MotoGP rookie, Fermin Aldeguer, had a difficult day in Buriram and pulled off a 'crazy' practice start.
The Buriram MotoGP Test was different to the Sepang Test as there was a midday practice start session. Many riders struggled to get 'perfect' practice starts, but the worst may go to Fermin Aldeguer.
The rookie's practice start went so wrong that he nearly collided with his teammate, Alex Marquez. Luckily for Gresini Racing their Spanish duo managed to avoid contact during the practice start.
After the test, the main question that Aldeguer was asked by the media was about the practice start.
"One was crazy," Aldeguer said at the end of his first day on the Desmosedici GP24 in Buriram.
"It was the first time that I slipped like this, but it’s normal when the track is in this condition and also other riders have the same problem. Not this big, but it’s normal."
Despite his 'crazy' practice start Aldeguer did have a difficult time during the opening day of the Buriram Test. The rookie crashed during the test and finished the day in 14th place and was over one second behind Marc Marquez.
"Buriram track is completely different to Sepang," he said.
"At the end, it’s another style. Michelin also, here we use a different casing, another thing to adapt to. This moring wasn’t too easy to adapt my style to this track, but we worked with calmness and after the break, we did a good and big step.
"We aren’t on the top, but the work is in a good way."
