After an incident with Miguel Oliveira on Saturday, MotoGP Rookie, Fermin Aldeguer, has been given a long lap penalty.
Fermin Aldeguer has been handed a penalty for the Argentine Grand Prix after a collision with Miguel Oliveira.
The Spaniard made contact with the Portuguese rider while trying to make a pass at turn two on the fifth lap of the Sprint Race.
Oliveira was sent to the hospital, and was cleared of any fractures but will not participate in the remainder of the weekend's track action.
Aldeguer will start the Argentine Grand Prix from 13th but must serve a long lap penalty, for his incident in Saturday's sprint with Oliveira.
After the race, Aldeguer issued an apology to Oliveira after their on-track incident.
“I want to apologize to Miguel Oliveira and his team for the unfortunate outcome of our touch,” Aldeguer wrote on X.
“I never intended to touch him or push him out on my overtake. I was very upset after finding out about his injuries.
“I honestly wish him a speedy recovery.”
