Francesco Bagnaia dominated the Dutch Grand Prix last year but he does not expect it to be as easy this year.
Francesco Bagnaia turned his title hopes around last year after he took victory at Assen. However, this year he heads to Assen as the Championship leader and the hunted rather than the hunter.
The Italian is on good form at the moment after winning both the Sprint and the Grand Prix in Mugello and finishing second in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. However, Bagnaia only leads the Championship by 16 points.
Assen has always been a track where Bagnaia has had success in the past as he has three career wins across three different classes at the Dutch circuit.
"It's the last race before a long summer break." said Bagnaia before the Dutch Grand Prix.
"Therefore, before starting the second and most challenging part of the season, it will be important to consolidate our position in the standings.
"We had a fantastic victory last year in Assen, and we will try again this year. I expect a much tighter race and numerous opponents ready to fight for first place. The TT Circuit is one of my favourite tracks, and that's why the circuit's layout is also tattooed on my arm!
"My feeling with the Desmosedici GP is excellent, so I am confident I can do well again this weekend."
