Davide Tardozzi believes Francesco Bagnaia could still win the 2024 title despite his points deficit.
For the first time in the last two years, the Ducati Lenovo Team arrive in Malaysia in second place. With only two rounds left of the 2024 MotoGP Championship factory Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia has a lot of work to do.
The Italian is 17 points behind his title rival, Jorge Martin. However, the Ducati Lenovo Team Manager, Davide Tardozzi, has full confidence in his rider to win his third MotoGP Championship.
Tardozzis said: "I think what he (Bagnaia) has done in the last couple of years, even in 2021 when he lost the Championship to Fabio (Quartararo), let him learn how to manage the situation.
"Finally, in the last two years, he proved that he had grown up in this way. Unfortunately, he has made some mistakes throughout the season, but so has Jorge (Martin).
"He has proven that he is a World Champion, and he is fighting against another incredible rider like Jorge Martin."
Tardozzi has worked closely with Bagnaia throughout the 2024 season and his title wins in 2022 and 2023. The Italian has managed several riders in their quests to win Championships throughout his career and wants to add another to his collection this season.
It has not been a perfect season for Bagnaia despite the two-time MotoGP Champion claiming nine Grand Prix victories. Bagnaia has failed to finish three Grands Prix and four Sprint Races, costing himself valuable points in the title fight.
