‘High hopes’ for Suzuki’s Espargaro in MotoGP 2016

Suzuki MotoGP new recruit Aleix Espargaro is hopeful that being in a factory team which can adapt quickly to change will stand him in good stead when new tyres and electronics come into play for MotoGP 2016.

The 25-year-old, who joins Maverick Vinales in the team next year, says the first year will be tough and aiming to challenge the Ducatis is the target but 2016 should be a year where he can be competitive.

“I’m sure it's going to be difficult, because the tests this year have not gone as well as Suzuki hoped for. I talked a lot with Davide and I know they have had to cancel tests because of rain. Now in Aragon they were unable to ride because of muddy rain. I know it will be hard work and it will not be easy, but this is a factory team and that means they also want to win alot, they want to do as much they can and do their part, just like Maverick and me, to put Suzuki back on top,” said Espargaro.

“I know there will be many changes in 2016, and when there are changes the strongest teams will be those that adapt fastest. A factory team has the potential to adapt quickly and I think that will be a very interesting year. It takes some time with the bike, the electronics will be the same for everyone, there will be a change of tyres. It is a year which we have high hopes for.”
