'Hopefully in Buriram we will have the same feeling' - Quartararo returned to the sharp end in the Sepang Test

Monster Energy Yamaha and Fabio Quartararo were back in the top three at the end of the Sepang Test.

Fabio Quartararo ended the 2025 Sepang Test inside the top three on the final day of the three-day test. The Frenchman has put his faith in Yamaha for the 2025 and 2026 seasons and so far it looks to have paid off.

Before the Sepang Test began Quartararo was unsure how fast he would be when compared to the Ducati's. However, he was able to match them and set his first 1 minute 56 second lap time in Sepang.

He ended the test in third place with a 1:56.724 and was 0.231 seconds off of Alex Marquez's best time. After the test had concluded Quartararo told MotoGP.com's After the Flag that he was 'feeling happy' with how the test had gone.

"Yes really happy, it is the first time I have reached the 56's so [I am] feeling happy," Quartararo said.

"I think today was a good day for us the conditions were really good so we had to work. Especially when the conditions were not so great and the grip was low, that is the main goal we have this season.

"But in general it was a positive day and hopefully in Buriram we will have the same feeling."

Yamaha were held back in 2024 by their lack of speed on a one-lap qualifying run. However, Quartararo believes that Yamaha has made a step towards helping him in qualifying sessions.

"I have been working on it during the winter," the 2021 World Champion stated.

"Not on a road bike but overall I was trying to be fast over one lap, and I was trying to be there straight away. This is a good point, but the bike has improved in some areas that helps me to be fast in one lap.

"But now we need to find extra grip to find these couple of tenths without pushing like hell."

Finally, he confirmed that Yamaha has improved in areas that he wanted it to. But he knows that everything could change during the opening round of the season.

"To be honest, yes. I think it was not too positive but also not too negative, I think it was a little bit more than I expected. Like I said it is just a test and the reality will come when we are in Buriram on Friday afternoon and in Qualifying."
