Fabio Quartararo ends his 2024 MotoGP season as he concludes his Barcelona Test.
The 2024 season was another difficult year for Yamaha as a manufacturer. The Monster Energy Yamaha Team were Champions in 2021, but in 2024 their former Champion, Fabio Quartararo, ended the year in 13th place.
The Japanese manufacturer is developing a V4 engine, but it is important to point out that the V4 engine was not present at this test.
Quartararo ended his first test on the 2025 Yamaha M1 early after completing 75 laps. The Frenchman is hoping to guide Yamaha back to the top of the Championship and the final test of 2024 was a promising event for Quartararo.
"Yeah I am quite happy, but we cannot reflect on the result from today," Quartararo stated. "But I think we have found our direction, we tried new aero, a new chassis, a new swingarm, and a new engine as well.
"I think we can be quite happy with the day and hopefully we can find more in Sepang. It is planned that we will make a big step there [Sepang]."
'We will give the Yamaha engineers time to bring a better bike for Sepang.'
During the test, Quartararo went and visited the new Prima Pramac Yamaha Racing Team. The Frenchman spoke to his new Yamaha teammate, Jack Miller, to gather his early thoughts on the M1.
Quartararo said: "It is difficult because when you change bikes for the first time from V4 to Inline, it was good to hear his comments. I have not spoke to Miguel yet, but it was good to see how Jack (Miller) was feeling."
Finally, Quartararo concluded by explaining that he would not ride the M1 until the Sepang Test next year. However, he is expecting a big step from Yamaha at the next test.
"Yes, it will be in about two months time," Quartararo said when asked about his next test with Yamaha. "We will give the Japanese engineers and Yamaha engineers time to bring a better bike for Sepang. I think we will have plenty of things to test there."
