Iker Lecuona will race at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix

Gold and Goose

Iker Lecuona will deputise for the injured Alex Rins at the next MotoGP round at Silverstone, this will happen due to Rins still being unable to ride because of his injury from Mugello.

Team HRC WorldSBK rider Iker Lecuona will make his third MotoGP appearance of the season at the British Grand Prix as he slots into LCR Honda team. Lecuona has taken part in the Spanish Grand Prix and the Dutch Grand Prix so far this seasonas he deputised for Marc Marquez and Joan Mir.

With Rins still being on the sidelines Lecuona has been called up once again to participate at Silverstone. However, with this call up to MotoGP Lecuona will have to miss out on the Suzuka 8-Hour race which is on the same weekend.

"I wish Alex a speedy recovery; I know how difficult these situations are." Lecuona said after it was announced that he would race at Silverstone.

"In the meantime, I'm happy to jump on the bike, as I want to do my best and help the team. Besides, I like Silverstone's layout, and we can have fun. I want to thank the Honda family and LCR for the opportunity."

Stefan Bradl was also reportedly an option to fill in at Silverstone but Honda have reasoning behind opting for Lecuona.

It has been stated by LCR Honda team boss Lucio Cecchinello that Rins has been offered a contract from Yamaha for the 2024 season. With Rins heavily thinking about switching to Yamaha for next season HRC are keen on putting Lecuona in the LCR Honda team for the 2024 season in place of Rins.
