After a day full of highs and lows Marquez reflected on his podium in the Japanese Grand Prix Sprint Race.
Marc Marquez ended his Saturday at the Japanese Grand Prix on a high note as he stood on the podium.
After finishing in second in the Practice sessions on Friday the Japanese Grand Prix was looking like it would be a strong weekend for Marc Marquez. However, his Saturday got more difficult in Qualifying.
The Spaniard set a new lap record in the 15-minute Q2 session to secure pole position. But after a long wait, the eight-time World Champion was told that he had lost the pole position as he exceeded track limits.
After his track limits penalty Marquez had to start the Sprint Race from ninth place on the grid. Marquez still managed to have a positive Saturday as he took his Gresini Racing Ducati GP23 to third place.
After the Sprint Race Marquez finally had time to reflect on his 'strange' day that he had at Motegi.
"It was a strange Saturday," Marquez stated. "It was a good Saturday in a way because we had very good speed and I felt very good with the bike. Then of course we had big confusion in Qualifying and when you start from ninth place everything becomes more difficult. But we did our best in the race."
