At the Barcelona MotoGP Test, Pedro Acosta made his debut with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.
Pedro Acosta made his MotoGP debut in 2024 with the KTM satellite team, Red Bull GasGas Tech3. However, for his second year in the Championship, he will ride for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.
At the Barcelona MotoGP Test, Acosta made his factory KTM debut. The Spaniard returned to the same colours that he won the Moto2 and Moto3 Championships. Acosta compared his arrival to the factory KTM squad as 'being back home'.
"Super nice, it was like being back home," Acosta told MotoGP.com.
"It was a tough year in the Championship, today is like a breath of fresh air. I am super happy, it was a long day of trying many things and aerodynamics. I was happy and normally this is not so easy, but I am quite happy."
During the MotoGP Test, Acosta tested a radical front aero device on his KTM RC16. The front fairing on his KTM was narrower than what the other KTM riders were testing during the day.
"Maybe, I don't know," Acosta said when asked if he would run the front aero he tested in the 2025 season.
"I think I am the first person in MotoGP to ride anything like it. I was happy with it, it was a different way of thinking, it was a new way but we need to be happy."
Acosta will also return to the number 37 plate for the 2025 season after his former teammate, Augusto Fernandez, left the Championship.
The last time Acosta ran the number 37 he won the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championship.
When being told about winning the title in Moto2 and Moto3 with the number 37 Acosta said: "No pressure then!
"It was super nice to see my number back on the bike and on the tower. It was an unreal day."
