EG0,0 Moto2 star Sam Lowes took a 'calm and concentrated' approach to yesterday's Jerez test, which was the first time he has ridden a GP bike since injuring his shoulderin February.
Lowes ended the day with 31 laps and the fifth fastest time of the combined classification – a 1'42.597 – which was only two tenths off the fastest rider of the day, Spaniard Jorge Martín.
“In general I’m very happy with how the day went. We suffered a bit in the morning since I didn’t have a good feeling with the front tyre but taking into account the time it had been since I last rode the bike, that’s normal," said Lowes.
"We worked hard and in the right direction. After getting injured on the first day of preseason in February, I’ve been waiting for this day to come. I think I’ve been smart, and I was completely focused on getting back to racing, being calm and concentrated.
"I want to thank the team and sponsors for the trust they’ve placed in me, especially after these difficult times. I think we have a good base to start working on Friday. I can't wait to start the grand prix.”
