Jorge Martin is back on the top step of a podium yet again after an incredible start got him a major advantage.
For the first time since Germany Jorge Martin is back on the top step of a podium. The Spaniard has been consistently finishing in second place in recent weeks but is back to winning ways at Misano.
Martin started the Sprint Race from fourth place on the grid but jumped all three riders ahead of him into turn one. After making an incredible start the #89 set an unbeatable pace across the 13-lap race.
After the race when speaking to Simon Crafar, Martin was overjoyed with his result: "Finally back to winning so I am super happy.
"We did a really good job, even in Practice when I was struggling because we were trying to find perfection.
"It was difficult but today I expected to be fighting with Pecco, but I did not expect to do that start. From that point, I just said ok 13 laps of Qualifying. I was pushing a lot trying not to make any mistakes and staying super focussed. I had a gap to keep for the last two laps so I am super happy. Tomorrow is another story, but I feel confident that we are in a good way, we are super good and super fast."
Martin has worked heavily on his race pace all weekend and is the clear favourite for tomorrow's Grand Prix. The factory Ducati squad will have a lot of work to do overnight to catch the Championship leader.
