The FIM MotoGP Stewards have handed Jorge Martin a penalty for the incident he caused at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Jorge Martin will return to MotoGP action this weekend for the final round of the 2025 Championship. However, he will have a penalty to serve.
The 2024 MotoGP World Champion has been on the sidelines since the Japanese Grand Prix, where he suffered a displaced fracture to his collarbone.
Martin fractured his collarbone in an incident at Turn One in the Sprint Race at the Twin Ring Motegi, where he caused a collision with his Aprilia Racing teammate Marco Bezzecchi.
The Spaniard has now been able to be penalised for his actions at the Japanese Grand Prix, nearly two months after the incident took place.
For causing a crash in the Sprint Race at the Japanese Grand Prix, Martin has been handed a Double Long Lap Penalty from the FIM MotoGP Stewards.
In a statement on social media, MotoGP confirmed Martin's penalty from the Japanese Grand Prix:
"The FIM MotoGP Stewards have handed Jorge Martin a Double Long Lap Penalty for causing a crash at the Japanese GP."
If the Spaniard is declared fit for this weekend, he will have to serve the penalty during the Grand Prix on Sunday. The 27-year-old already explained that his plans for the Valencian Grand Prix were to 'gather information' rather than look at results.
However, if he does not pass medical checks and is unable to participate in the season finale this weekend, the penalty will roll on to the Thai Grand Prix at the start of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.
