Lorenzo facing vast pay cut if Suzuki move comes off

Former MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo is facing a massive pay cut should a rumoured move to Suzuki next season come off.

The Spaniard is reported to be on a €12M a year plus bonuses salary structure at Ducati - not that any bonuses are in danger of being paid at the moment - which is a lot more than team-mate Andrea Dovizioso.

However, Dovizioso is second only to Marc Marquez in the bookies' list of title favourites while Lorenzo is 40/1 at best. Consequently and rightly, Dovizioso is angling for the lion's share of the wages purse.

Ducati say they are close to a deal with Dovi but nothing is on the table from either side when it comes to Lorenzo - which opens a decent size door for Davide Brivio to walk through with his Suzuki cheque book and save the day.

Whether Lorenzo needs saving is another matter but Ducati will be looking to press the eject button if he doesn't sharpen in the next two rounds and the only available parachute is probably blue but he can bet his bottom Euro that it probably won't even have six million painted on it...
