Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo has marmalised the existing MotoGP pole position lap record at Motorland Aragon today, going four-tenths faster than Casey Stoner did on the Repsol Honda in in 2011.
Lorenzo did a 1'48.076 compared to Stoner's 1'48.451 and was more than a second quicker than his own pole position time from last year. Marc Marquez was also under Stoner's time while Dani Pedrosa, who rode both the 2013 and 2014 bikes, was a little behind but still under the race lap record. He will not test tomorrow.
“Compared to normal I’ve been stronger today. At this track normally I suffer many problems in setting up the bike and getting the bike to work like in other tracks. This time from the beginning I have been very competitive with a lot of confidence," said Lorenzo.
"Also I think I am in very good shape so I have taken profit of it. I could also test a new tyre to put myself in a qualifying situation and I did a very good lap time. We are just testing very little things but it is better than nothing.”
