The Thai Grand Prix has left Francesco Bagnaia disappointed after finishing third throughout the weekend.
Francesco Bagnaia ended the opening weekend of the 2025 MotoGP season in third place in the standings.
The Italian qualified in third, then finished the Sprint Race and Grand Prix in third. However, he was beaten by both Marquez brothers as Marc dominated the opening weekend.
When Bagnaia was asked about his weekend he admitted that he 'expected more' from the Thai Grand Prix.
"I was 60-70% happy, but I was expecting more," Bagnaia told TNT Sports.
"The race was very long and I struggled to close the gap. But Marc [Marquez] today was playing with us. Then I was trying to catch Alex [Marquez] but our pace was too similar.
"Every time [the gap] was under five tenths, I began to struggle with the tyre so I had to finish like this. I tried everything.
"I had a slight issue in the last part of the race, but anyway we can be happy."
Bagnaia was asked about his deficit to Marquez and believes the Spaniard was simply stronger in the left-hand corners than the other riders. Which allowed him to gain an advantage compared to the deficit that he had at the right-hand corners.
"On the right side he was not losing the same amount of time that he was gaining on the left," he stated.
"It was difficult to be fast like him, he was managing well, since the first day of testing here, he was very fast and consistent.
"I think we closed the gap a bit, but it was not enough."
MotoGP will go to Argentina in two weeks and Bagnaia was questioned on how he will prepare for the next race weekend.
"I will do the same as always, I will watch the replica from three years ago to see what I was doing," Bagnaia explained.
"It is not one of my favourite tracks, but we have to be competitive, if it is another weekend like this one finishing in third will be a good result."
