After building on his form from previous rounds, Maverick Vinales is in high spirits ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix.
Maverick Vinales has been slowly building his form in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship after joining Red Bull KTM Tech3.
The Spaniard finished 16th in Thailand, 14th in Argentina and most recently, 12th in America. However, there was hope for so much more from Vinales at the Grand Prix of the Americas.
Vinales qualified in tenth place before encountering issues at the delayed start. After starting from pitlane, the 30-year-old was able to make his way through the field.
"We are heading to Qatar with a good feeling after the improvements made last week in Austin," Vinales said.
"For sure, the outcome was not the one we wanted, but I felt fast and competitive all weekend for the first time this season, and all I want to do is go to Qatar and continue working in that direction.
"Doha is a track that I like a lot, where I have had good results in the past, so let's try to be competitive straight from Friday and see how it goes for the weekend.
"It is always special to race at night, so I am excited!"
Red Bull KTM Tech3 Team Manager, Nicolas Goyon, also has high hopes for Vinales at the Qatar Grand Prix.
The Frenchman thinks Vinales could have fought in the top five at the Circuit of the Americas and hopes his latest aerodynamic test will allow him to find more speed at Lusail.
"Maverick qualified directly in Q2 for the first time of the season, and I am sure that without the grid issues, he would have ended close to the top 5," Nicolas Goyon said.
"In addition, he had some important aerodynamics tests last week, which will for sure help him find extra speed.
"All in one, I am confident that he will arrive in Doha with a lot of motivation, and we can’t wait to get back on track with him."
