Italian MotoGP star Marco Melandri has revealed that another year like the disastrous 2008 season would be the end for him but he is confident of hearing about his Kawasaki ride by the end of this month.
The former 250GP World Champion has been in the dark about his 2009 campaign with all sorts of rumours flying around s to what Kawasaki will do and where Melandri will be.
Writing in his personal blog, Melandri said: "When I met people in the street or in the café that asked me what was happening, all I could say was that everything was on hold and I didn’t know anything more. This was the whole truth, but with all that buzzing around it seemed that I wasn’t talking.
"The situation got worse day by day, and changed significantly from one hour to the next without any reason and I moved from being hopeful to not having the vaguest idea if I was going to race a MotoGP in 2009.
"Now I’m more at peace as I’ve started to think differently, I believe that I cannot control everything that’s going on around me and that I have always given all I have and tried my best to resolve the situation.
"The only certainty is that I’ll be up for it only if the conditions are in place to do well and not just to make up the numbers in MotoGP. Another season like 2008 would be the end of me; I really think it would do me in, because I can assure you that I give my all in this job!"
