Miller, Marquez Moto3 clash deemed ‘racing incident’

MotoGP race direction deemed the Moto3 clash between Alex Marquez and Jack Miller a racing incident even though the Australian claimed the Honda man rode into the side of him.

Miller ended up on the deck when the pair tangled and although he re-mounted, he crashed again while Marquez took second and claimed the championship lead. He now has an 11-point lead going into Motegi.

“Marquez tried to pass me on the straight and didn’t quite have the pace. Then he went up the inside but I had the dry line so I was just going round the corner normally. I knew normally he would have to shut off because there was a bit of a puddle on the inside but he didn’t close the gas, drive into the side of me and I fell off,” said Miller.

Marquez said: “Regarding what happened with Miller, I passed him on the inside, rode my line on the dry bit of track and felt contact halfway into the corner. I didn't know what had happened because I was focused on keeping to my line. I think that what happened was a racing incident.”?
