MotoGP bosses have today announced that Valentino Rossi’s home track of Misano will remain on the championship calendar until at least 2020.
The Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini is one of the most exciting events on the MotoGP™ calendar and was a sold-out show in 2015. The modified track returned to the calendar in 2007 and has since become one of the flagship events throughout the season and in Italian motorsport, with the support and passion of the fans, Riviera di Rimini and local legend Valentino Rossi creating an incredible spectacle.
2016 sees the tenth edition of the event in a row touch down at the classic Adriatic circuit, with crowds once again ready to enjoy the unrivaled spectacle of MotoGP™ at one of its most treasured venues.
"The confirmation of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP for the next four years guarantees the MotoGP™ calendar a date of great sporting importance. Here it has been possible to reinforce a winning formula between public promoters and the Circuit,” said Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“During these ten years we witnessed an impetuous growth of interest and attention. At the same time, a number of promotional projects are coming out on top, exalting a global cradle of passion for motors, with extraordinary champions and new talents on track.
“The Circuit has spent generous and incessant investments to safely welcome spectators and races. There are all the ingredients for further growth. In the meantime, let’s get ready for the days ahead where the common passion for motorcycling, thanks to the events and challenges in the circuit, will have again provide unrivaled satisfaction and emotion."
