Rory Skinner says he can take positives away from the second round of the 2023 Moto2 World Championship at Termas de Rio Hondo, despite an early retirement.
The Briton continued his initiation within the competitive intermediate grand prix category with the American Racing team in Argentina, showing flashes of potential with a top ten berth in the wet FP3 session.
Going on to qualify 25th, 0.4s down on a passage through to Q2 - down from 0.6s in Portimao - Skinner could only complete seven laps before his Kalex cried enough.
“It was a good weekend apart from the retirement in the race which wasn’t great but it’s just one of those things that happens.
“I’m really happy with how Saturday went, to be 0.4 off of Q2, that was a good improvement for me in the dry and P10 in FP3 was nice – it was good in the mixed conditions to be there or thereabouts.”
