Jake Dixon concluded a positive first Moto2 test back with the GASGAS Aspar Team at the Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto.
The 2022 season began in earnest, just a week after the Valencia finale, as Dixon rejoined his 2019 team alongside former Moto3 champion Albert Arenas at Jerez on Tuesday.
Pleased with the first contact with both team and bike, the GASGAS Aspar rider was fast from the first laps and feeling really comfortable from the off.
A small crash prevented him from using a softer tyre to improve his time further, but the Brit finished the day 4th overall with a best time of 1’42.209, just half a second behind Sky VR46 Celestino Vietti’s fastest effort.
“Overall today has been a good day,” Dixon said from Jerez. "We started very well, despite a small crash in the morning. I loved the way the team worked and I immediately felt very good on the bike.
“It's been a while since I felt so good on this bike, so I'm really happy to have a good 'feeling' with it again. The team believes in me, so I think I'll be able to do good performances next season, once I have spent the winter training and coming back even stronger for 2022.”
