Moto2 Misano: Bagnaia strengthens title challenge with home Moto2 pole

Pecco Bagnaia put the pressure on Miguel Oliveira with a stunning early lap to claim Moto2 pole position from Marcel Schrotter whilst Miguel Oliveira could only manage ninth position having to brush off a crash at Misano.

With track temperatures rising, in the session, fast early laps would be key and it was the Moto2 World Championship leader who was on it from the off, lapping with his Sky Racing VR46 team-mate Luca Marini.

Bagnaia’s fastest lap of a 1:37.121 was done on his sixth of eighteen laps and was 0.210 seconds clear of Schrotters best time to secure him the pole position.

Mattia Pasini will join Bagnaia and Schrotter on the front row of the grid. The Italian was one of few riders who improved a little later in the session and was less than a tenth behind German.

MotoGP bound Fabio Quartararo will head the second row on his Speed Up bike ahead of Brad Binder and Jorge Navarro with the entire second row covered by just over a tenth.

Marini will start from seventh and the front of the third row, with Alex Marquez and Miguel Olivera making up a very fast third row, all of whom will be looking to move forwards quickly once the lights go out.
