Moto3 Aragon, Qualifying: David Alonso claims his fifth pole position of 2024

Gold and Goose

David Alonso has topped every Moto3 session on his way to claiming pole position at Aragon.

Throughout Friday and Saturday, the Moto3 class was dominated by David Alonso. The Colombian rider had topped every Practice session.

Alonso went on to claim his fifth pole position of the 2024 season. Alonso is set to move to Moto2 in 2025, but for now, he is chasing the Moto3 title in 2024, a season which he has dominated.

The only rider that was vaguely anywhere near Alonso was Jose Antonio Rueda. The Spaniard has been in the top three all weekend and will start from the front row on Sunday.

A second behind Alonso was David Munoz who completed the front row. The Spaniard has also been on the pace all weekend but was nowhere near Alonso's pace in Qualifying.

The top Honda in Moto3 Qualifying was Angel Piqueras. Even though he is trying to switch to a KTM for 2025, in 2024 Piqueras has impressed on the Leopard Honda.

Joining Piqueras on the second row is the Australian rider, Joel Kelso on the BOE Motorsports KTM who will start from fifth. Then at the back of the second row is Luca Lunetta on the SIC58 Squadra Corse Honda.

The third row is made up of Daniel Holgado in seventh, Matteo Bertelle in eighth and then Collin Veijer in ninth place.

Completing the top ten is Ivan Ortola at the head of the fourth row.

British rider, Scott Ogden, came through a hectic Q1 to guarantee a place in the top 18. He will start the Aragon Grand Prix in 12th place.
