MotoGP 2021 pre-season gossip, rumour and intrigue

Stefan Bradl has already taken the 2021 RC213V out for a little toddle around a wet Jerez with some fairly obvious changes including a revised frame, swingarm and exhaust. Marc Marquez and Pol Escargot won't get the bikes until Qatar, so Bradl is responsible for all development. He should be back in action with the WorldSBK boys on Wednesday and Thursday in Andalucia.

Here is a video that GPone.com took at the test and it looks a lot like Honda are aping Yamaha with the new frame...

Italian rider manager and former team boss Carlo Pernat is of the opinion that Marquez will not be able to ride until the middle of this coming season and will be replaced by Bradl until that time and we will not see Andrea Dovizioso on track in 2021.

Valentino Rossi believes that half-brother Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini should be in with a shot of decent results in MotoGP this year as the 2020 Ducati they will be riding is half-decent. Officially, the bikes are GP19s but there will be a lot of extra parts which will bring them closer to the works bikes of last year.

Marini and Bastianini did fantastic things with the Moto2, fighting for the championship until the last race. In MotoGP they will have a very good bike, the Ducati, and a good team. So I think that also for Marini and Bastianini already they can competitive in 2021," Rossi said.

Yamaha chief Lin Jarvis has said that the 40+ Rossi is still important to the development of the M1 as he will still receive a factory bike and parts, and be vital in the data collection department. Which sounds like he now has five McDonalds stars instead of three.

MotoGP will not be visiting Russia in 2021 after the Igora Drive track vanished from the reserve list on the updated calendar. Austin and Argentina have been postponed and replaced with a second Qatar race and one at Portimao. The relatively unknown Hermann Tilke-designed track is located 50 kilometres from St. Petersburg and was completed in 2019.

Pramac Ducati new-boy Johann Zarco wants to emulate the on-track exploits of Jack Miller in 2021 by scoring some wins and podiums on his works Desmosedici. The Frenchman believes that after 2020 and the championship win by Joan Mir, 'anything is possible'. Some things are but it depends on the fitness of one Marc Marquez, ma petite chou.
