Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max’s John McPhee completed the first day at Motorland Aragon within the Moto3 top 14.
A brake issue prevented the Scot from competing in the opening half of the morning practice with the issue plaguing McPhee across the remainder of a day. Despite this, the 28-year-old maintained a competitive pace, completing FP1 with the 11th fastest time before securing a provisional Q2 position thanks to his 1’59.370, from 14th.
“It was a difficult start to the weekend here at Aragon,” McPhee admitted after day one. “In fact in FP1 I missed half of the session, because we had a problem with the brakes.
“Then unfortunately, although a little less, the problem continued in FP2 so it was difficult to find the real rhythm, but even so, we managed to test a couple of things. My lap time overall was okay. We are in P14 so I can improve on this! I just need a greater constancy for tomorrow to improve overall.”
