MotoGP Aragon: Ellison to try new engine

PBM Aprilia's James Ellison will try a new engine in tomorrow's Aragon MotoGP morning warm-up that will being him closer to the spec of the bikes Randy De Puniet and Aleix Espargaro use.

The motor, which has gear-driven cams, should be worth something like 12bhp but the team will only have the short session, if it is dry, to try and get the electronics strategy somewhere not a million miles away from where it needs to be.

"The spec is now pretty close to De Puniet and Espargaro, they have a different frame to us but we are getting there. We will try the engine in the morning but we will have not much time to sort out any of the electronics in time for the race," said crew chief Mick Shanley, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

"James is riding really well. Sometimes his position is not a true indication of how quick he is but we are moving up and getting a lot of data behind us which we will need for next year."
