MotoGP Aragon: Mir withdraws from Motorland and Japan

Suzuki Ecstar’s Joan Mir has withdrawn from the remainder of the Motorland Aragon MotoGP weekend suffering pain in his right ankle.

The 2020 World Champion is also expected to sit out of the Japanese Grand Prix next week the team has confirmed, as he continues to rehabilitate the injury sustained during the opening lap of the Austrian GP after a monster highside at the Red Bull Ring’s turn four.

Having initially hoped to be able to complete his home race after pre-race training brought favourable results, Mir struggled with his GSX-RR during Friday’s free practice. The Mallorcan completed Saturday’s FP3 19th in the combined times and suffering intense pain before the decision to withdraw was finally taken.
