MotoGP Aragon: ‘Narrower’ GP14.2 is positive for Dovizioso

Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso believes a new, narrower chassis on the updated MotoGP GP14.2, which he tested at Mugello on Tuesday, will help with comfort over race distance and probably increase ground clearance which the bike has historically lacked.

Both Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone, who also tested, will ride the new, more adjustable bike at Motorland Aragon this weekend but Dovizioso says the inherent understeer problem has not been fixed, adding that wasn’t the target with the upgrade and the limits of the Bologna machine will remain.

“The real positive is it’s narrower. This is really comfortable on the bike and this is the main point, the size of the chassis. I think the limits before are the same but we expect this as we didn’t really change a lot on the bike to improve, for example, the limit of turning, so a lot didn’t change,” said Dovizioso, speaking at Aragon.

“The other positive point is we are able to make more setup to change something more, before we had a limit. In Mugello we didn’t need that change but Mugello is a strange track but I think we are able to change the setup in a different track.”
