MotoGP Aragon: Redding ‘not in the ballpark’ with front feel

Go&Fun Honda’s Scott Redding is lacking the right feel from his production MotoGP RCV1000R and says he isn’t really in the ballpark of what he wants.

The Gloucestershire man has got feel from the bike at Motorland Aragon but it isn’t what he wants and a duff tyre in the afternoon session put paid to a decent laptime as he nearly lobbed it twice.

“This morning was ok, I have front feeling but it’s not the feeling that I want but we can work with it. This afternoon was difficult, we tried to make it better but we didn’t change much to make it a lot better. Then we put the soft tyre in at the end to make a lap time and it was quite difficult,” said Redding, speaking at Aragon.

“I had two laps and nearly had big crashes so for me there was something wrong with the tyre, something wasn’t right and we lost the laps at the end. The bike isn’t how I want it to work. I think it is a little bit on turn-in. If I brake in one place I’m early but if I brake a metre later I go straight, there’s no in between.

“We’re going to try a bit more stroke but nothing big with the geometry, we tried that this morning so it’s a case of fine tuning what we have got. It’s a matter of finding the area, we’re not in a good ballpark, finding the good feeling again.”
