Britain’s Scott Ogden goes into this weekend’s final two Red Bull Rookies Cup races of 2021 at the Aragon MotoGP round on a confidence high following his memorable maiden victory in the CEV Repsol Moto3 Junior World Championship.

The 17-year-old’s win at Jerez was the first for a British rider in the CEV Repsol Moto3 category for almost a decade and received considerable praise from the motorcycle racing community.

Ogden, from Belton in North Lincolnshire, resides in Spain to live and breathe racing. His CEV Repsol team Aspar is based there, many of his races are in the country and the climate enables him to physically train in sapping heat.

Last week he ran the equivalent of a half marathon in temperatures of almost 40 degrees and followed that up by completing over 8km in 30 minutes flat...

 “If you are aiming for the top this is what you put yourself through as an athlete – and it paid off in Jerez when the temperature was very high. I actually felt OK inside the leathers and was still thinking sharp at the end which helped me spot the opportunities," said Ogden.

“I expect similar weather in Aragon, but I don’t know if a win is on. The Red Bull Rookies bikes (identical KTMs) aren’t quite as powerful, so my extra height and weight put me at a slight disadvantage. But that won’t stop me giving it my all – I’d like to be in the top six and make sure I can capitalise if something happens."

“Bike setup will be crucial, as will getting the most out of qualifying and the race distance from the Dunlop tyres which is something I always enjoy working on with the technicians.

“Being on the MotoGP bill is always a big buzz and, whilst I’m not racing for Aspar in Red Bull Rookies, I’ll certainly be cheering them on in their bid for the Moto3 title.”
