MotoGP Aragon: Wildcards 'too much of a distraction' for Rea

Repsol Honda stand-in rider Jonathan Rea has dismissed talk of MotoGP wildcard rides in 2013, saying they would be too much of a distraction from his main job of winning the World Superbike Championship.

Rea says he agreed to stand in for Casey Stoner as he only had a mathematical chance of the 2012 WSBK crown but next season, with new input from Honda, he hopes to be challenging for the title at the word go.

"My priority is in Superbike. I only agreed to do this (MotoGP) because mathematically the WSBK Championship was just possible but realistically, I had lost touch with Melandri and Biaggi so for me it was a good way of getting some more experience," said Rea, speaking at Aragon this evening.

"If I have a mediocre season next year, which I hope not I hope I can challenge for the world title next year, in which case it is too much of a distraction to do that."
